Prospera Initiatives envisions a bright future where each and every minority child finishes high school and has the opportunity to go on to higher education and a successful career
We know this vision can become reality with comprehensive, targeted support for students from an early age, and that’s why we work so hard to create programs designed to develop the skills and attitudes students need to reach their goals.
Our model after-school program the Heritage Language Literacy Club, recruits and trains minority middle and high school students to serve as tutors for younger students in native language literacy. Current programs focus on literacy in Spanish, and expansion to other languages is planned for future projects.
The Club provides a nurturing environment for at-risk children and youth, broadening their vision for the future and helping them develop the skills to make that vision a reality.
We harness and develop bilingual language skills, to give young people tools to excel in the world of work and ensure a competitive American workforce for the global economy.
Our programs also place youth in positions of responsibility, where they can realize the power they have to help others and begin lifelong patterns of giving back to their community.
We rely on the generosity of corporate sponsors, foundations, and individual donors to provide these programs free of charge to all eligible children and youth.
